Born in the heart of the industrial Midlands, the desire to escape to the countryside took hold when I was just a youngster.
My parents did not drive so annual holidays were always by coach, usually speeding down the A38 to Weston–super-Mare.
The Peak District and Dovedale in particular was the first area I walked in seriously.
The scene at Dovedale with Thorpe Cloud rising up from the narrow valley of the River Dove impressed me greatly. My favourite place though has to be the Lake District; I've walked there every year for the past 15 years and never got bored of the area. My other passion is being afloat; the Norfolk Broads is my preferred location, out of season is the best time to go, at other times it can get like a busy motorway!
Photography is the link between my outdoor pursuits and combined with my interest in computers has lead me to create this and other web sites. With my home now being less then an hours drive away from the Peak District the area has once again become a regular haunt.
